“He has brought me to his banquet hall,
and his banner over me is love.”
-Song of Songs 2:4
He intoxicates me with the fragrance of spring
Of honeysuckle and wet earth.
His menagerie serenades my heart
awake with morning song.
He massages my feet with tender grasses.
He sends his towering giants to guard me on my way.
Tall and dark walnut.
Kindly and warm maple.
Soft, smiling spruce.
He kisses my face and belly with ardorous sunlight.
He paves my way with silken pastel clouds.
He calls me by my real name.
The name I do not yet fully understand.
He flies his color over me
His banner is a heart that is broken and burst by his love.
